Awake
As orange light fades away off west, the world around lies down to rest.
Night falls fast so dark and deep, with whispers of cool and quiet sweet.
And though the pull is strong to sleep the dark for me will bring no peace
For just as slumber starts to fall, outside a tiny voice will call
Soon a second shout joins the throng; two sad voices of melancholy song
Through bleary eyes the work is done, quick hands rushing to outrun the sun
Though morning comes fast and harsh, for this work regrets are sparse
So for tonight, this is my fate, another night I’m kept awake
